Masterful and Rich Celticana

This duo doesn’t just craft music you hear, they make music you feel. Their album Celticana blends Scottish soul with Americana grit, carried by Steve’s magnetic voice and guitar and Spider’s soulful, spirited harmonica. Decades of friendship give their performances rare depth: honest, captivating, and profoundly moving.

With nearly two decades touring Europe, the UK and U.S., Steve and Spider’s polished presence keeps audiences engaged and venues eager for their return. Their sound reaches deep, stirring souls and resonating with a truth audiences didn’t know they were missing. Critics call their music “masterful” and “genre-setting,” while fans say it’s the music their hearts have been waiting for. One reviewer wrote, “When Steve and Spider take the stage, it’s as if the music has always been there, waiting to be uncovered.”

Upcoming: Steve and Spider will be touring in the UK and Europe in 2025. Following a homecoming concert at the award-winning Blue Lamp in Aberdeen in May, a tour of the beautiful Orkney Isles (including a show on remote Papa Westray, an island of less than 70 inhabitants) is scheduled in June. Some festival slots in Germany over the summer precedes a tour of Germany & the Netherlands in November.

To record their second album ‘Celticana’, they relocated first to Nashville to rehearse in the city’s historic East Side, soaking up all the muse this musical heartland has to offer. From there they travelled on to Moon House Studios in Austin, Texas to work with veteran musician-producer and former Texan musician of the year Chris Gage. The result is music stylistically drenched in Americana set to lyrics that spin stories from the Scottish motherland.

The album was mastered by the five-time Grammy nominated Jerry Tubb, whose previous work includes albums by Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. In contrast to their stripped-back debut album ‘5am’, which features the duo alone in an almost live setting, Celticana benefits from Gage’s excellent contributions on piano, mandola, mandolin, guitar, Hammond organ and harmony vocals alongside the mighty Austin rhythm section of David Carroll on upright bass and drummer Kevin Hall.
